Why did I shave my head???

Two and a half years ago my best friend had asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding, so began the growing process! During this time, several key family members of the bride and groom unfortunately passed away. This made me wonder how I could do something a bit more constructive with all my hair and support the work of the Macmillan nurses who had helped the family so fantastically.

My mind was made up, after the wedding in April of this year, the hair was going!  I began fundraising in earnest, setting myself a target of £2000.
Friends and family rallied round and slowly but surely the total started going up. To boost funds, a cake sale and dress down day was held in the clinic on Friday May 8th. Over £300 was raised between staff and patients! The very next day, May 9th, was the big event. Friends and family gathered to spur me on. The nerves kicked in, but I kept my focus on the reason I was doing it.

My plaited hair was cut off and sent to The Little Princess trust, a charity that makes wigs for children suffering hair loss. The rest of my hair was then shaved off down to a grade one! Quite a different look to adjust to, but made so worthwhile by the fact that my fundraising has surpassed the initial target and is currently at £3230!!

I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who contributed to my fundraising venture, and who has supported me since then.
