Ex-Patient now a "Helper"explains

Hi, my name is Rob.C. I used to be a psychiatric patient for a number of years. I left the Clinic just over seven years ago and when I left I had a few friends who I visited and was asked by one or two people to speak on their behalf to their nurse or psychiatrist

After a few months of this I was involved in setting up the User Friendly Group, whose aims were to improve the quality of life for people who are detained. We have had a lot of success. I was involved in the planning of the new Clinic by attending the planning meetings

I still speak to nurses, O.T. staff, doctors and all disciplines in the care team meetings. If you find it difficult speaking to anyone about anything, or just need someone to talk to, ask the nurse in charge to contact me.

I am in the Clinic every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. People who know me will point me out or introduce me, or feel free to introduce yourself. I will only be too pleased to speak to you. If you are unsure about your legal rights I can explain, or find out what you need to know. I can also arrange for a solicitor to visit you. If you have any religious needs please let me know.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I only hope that I may be of some help to you

RobC
